The 7th Annual Hazzard County Squirrel Slam is set to take place on Saturday, February 16, in Holley, New York. It is being hosted by the Holley Fire Department. Children as young as 12 years old are being encouraged to participate. In addition to cash prizes, a drawing will be held to give away several guns, including a .22 caliber AR-15, a similar version of the assault weapon used in the slaughter of school children in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newton, Connecticut last month.
This event will not only wipe out the mothers of young squirrels, but those orphans will be in grave danger of survival. In addition, this event poses an environmental threat due to disposal of the dead animals as well as the remains of firearm casings left to litter the countryside.

Underage children are encouraged to participate in this event with firearms when the country has just recently witnessed the tragedy of the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut.
